E3 2006: World Poker Tour: 7 Card Stud
At E3, Hands-On knew when to hold em and when to fold em.
May 15, 2006 - If theres one thing thats for certain in the crazy mobile biz, its that poker sells. Hands-On Mobile, which currently owns the biggest poker license of them all -- World Poker Tour -- is bringing the series back to mobile, but is changing the game by not offering the ubiquitous Texas Holdem, but traditional 7 Card Stud.
I had a chance to play the game at E3, where Hands-Ons own poker maven, Stephanie Morgan, gave me a crash course in the game. Admittedly, I am not very familiar with this style of play, but after a few hands, I started to get the hang of it. I started watching the face-up cards of the other players around the table, looked out for
ags, and found myself employing the most basic strategy of folding before getting in too deep.
So, it seems that the basic poker game is solid, which will likely be enough for Hands-On to move a million downloads without breaking a sweat. But the presentation is very nice, bearing the trademark presentation tics of the televised World Poker Tour.
7 Card Stud is currently slated to ship in a few months. Ill be back then with a full review.
