John Spadavecchia - 1st place

TD Bob Daily and the winner!

I suspect that Sean and John made a deal during the last break, as it is now over 9 hands later. Sean appeared to be dumping his chips to John (Sean would raise, John would come over the top, and Sean would fold). Sean accidentally won a pot when he moved in with pocket 7s on a board of J K T 6 and John only had a pair of 6s.

Sean McCabe - 2nd place

The final hand, Sean moved all in and John called. Sean has 9 6 offsuit and John had K 3 offsuit. Board was 7 7 K Q A and its over.

John Spadavecchia finished in 1st place, earning $648,320 and the gold and diamond WSOP Circuit Championship ring.

Sean McCabe finished in 2nd place, earning $257,557.

Here are the payouts for the final table:

Thats all for this episode of As the Cards Flop

Play, if you can call it that, has resumed. Level 18, 2K ante, 8K/16K blinds.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 06:45 PM

Players are on break at end of level 17. Sean has 365,000 chips, leaving John with 1.725 million.  The previous level was kind of like watching paint dry.  There was only the one all in and call since they got heads-up.  Sean seems to be card dead.  He calls Johns raises to see the flop, but then has to fold on the flop which misses him completely.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 06:26 PM

Theyve been pushing blinds and antes back and forth for a while now. No significant action.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 06:09 PM

Sean raised from the button; John re-raised; Sean moved all in; John called. Seans A8 of diamonds was ahead of Johns KT offsuit. Board came 5 J Q 6 7 and Seans Ace-high was good. He had 290K and doubled up to 580K, leaving John with about 1.5 million.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 06:01 PM

John is using his mountain of chips like a chisel to chip away at Seans stack. Sean is down to about 330K now.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 05:46 PM

Heads-up now, Sean has 479K and John has all the rest - about 1.6 million.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 05:36 PM

Ralph Perry - 3rd place

Ralph raised to 30K from the small blind and John called from the big. Flop was 3 7 K. Ralph checked, John bet, and Ralph called. Turn was 8; Ralph checked, John bet 200K, and Ralph raised all in. John called and showed K9 for top pair. Ralph had pocket Queens and was in bad shape with only two outs. The river was a Jack and Ralph was done.

Ralph Perry finished in 3rd place, earning $196,460.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 05:14 PM

Sean and Ralph both have about 550K and John has the rest, about 1 million.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 04:46 PM

On the next hand, John doubles through Ralph and retakes the lead. They got all in on the flop of K J T; Ralph had AK for top pair; John had Q8 for the open-ended straight draw, needing an Ace or a 9. Turn was a 7; river was the 9 and John gets his chips back.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 04:42 PM

On a flop of J K 3, John and Ralph get all in. John has AJ offsuit for a pair of Jacks; Ralph has K7 of spades for a pair of Kings and the lead. A 7 fell on the turn increasing Ralphs lead and the 6 on the river was no help for anyone. Ralph more than doubled up and is now the chip leader.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 04:32 PM

Danny Fuhs - 4th place

Ralph raised from the button and Danny called from the big blind. On the flop of J K 9 , Danny checked, Ralph bet, and Danny moved all in. Ralph called and showed pocket 9s for a set. Danny had T 7 for the flush draw and double-gutted straight draw. The A fell on the turn giving Danny the flush, but the river was the K , filling Ralphs house and ending Dannys day.

Danny Fuhs finished in 4th place, earning $157,468.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 04:17 PM

John has over 1 million chips; Sean is 2nd with about 470K, Ralph is 3rd with about 375K, and Danny has about 165K.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 04:01 PM

Billy and Ralph get all in pre-flop. Bills KK was in the lead; Ralph had AQ offsiut. Board was 5 7 J 6 J and Bill doubled up - hes got about 400K now. Ralph has about 650K, and Sean has about 475K.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 03:47 PM

Danny wins a big pot against Ralph with no call on the river.   A couple of hands later, Ralph takes an even bigger pot from Danny.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 03:30 PM

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 02:59 PM

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 01:58 PM

Ralph raised to 24K and then John moved all in for 88K. All folded back to Ralph, who thought about it for a few moments, then called, showing AJ offsuit. He was ahead of Johns QT offsuit, until the flop: T 9 6 gave John the lead with a pair of tens. Queen on the turn gave John two pair and left Ralph with 8 outs: and King or 8. Thursday, 11th of May 2006 01:07 PM

Talk about a battle of the blinds...Tony moved all in from the small and then Tom moved all in from the big. Tony had AK offsuit and Tom had AK of diamonds. The first real fireworks of they day fizzled into a split pot.

Thursday, 11th of May 2006 12:25 PM

Tony saw a flop from the big blind with Tom. On the flop of J 3 8 rainbow, Tony check-raised Tom all in (+35,000). After some thought, Tom folded.

Sean McCabe - Chip Leader

Todays the day. One of these 9 men will go home with over $648,000 and more importantly, bragging rights to beating one of the toughtest fields playing No Limit Holdem tournament poker:

Seat Name Chip Count
7 Sean McCabe 510,500
2 Ralph Perry 336,000
9 Tom Schneider 323,500
3 John Spadavecchia 197,500
1 Bob Bright 197,000
6 Blair Rodman 195,000
8 Tony Cousineau 119,000
5 Danny Fuhs 117,000
4 Bill Baxter 93,500

At the top of the heap is Sean McCabe, a relatively young player with an aggressive style. Sean had a good first day, then stalled on day 2, but then on day 3, he put the pedal to the metal and never looked back.

But at the bottom of the heap is Billy Baxter. He may be the short stack, but hes a seasoned veteran of the felt who has 7 WSOP bracelets to prove that hes got staying power and knows how to finish a tournament strong.

Who will prevail? Who will take the bad beats? Who will get lucky when they need to and suckout?   The answers to these questions and more will be right here, on todays installment of As the Cards Flop, beginning at noon pacific time.
